Obituary for Daniel H. Fitzpatrick

Daniel H. Fitzpatrick passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 21, 2017. He was born in New York City on August 23, 1940 to parents John Fitzpatrick and Anna Marie Pickett.

Daniel graduated from Wayne High School (1958) in Wayne, NJ. He was a member of the National Guard of New Jersey for six years and was employed with E.I. Dupont Co. in Pompton Lakes, NJ and Miami, FL. for 35 years. Dan married Maureen Cooper in 1965, and they lived together in Vernon, NJ for 20 years, before relocating to Miami, FL. in 1988.

Dan had a true passion for baseball playing in high school and beyond with semi pro teams while scouted by the Milwaukee Braves in 1958. Dan was active in his community of Vernon, NJ playing Men’s Softball and coaching youth baseball and softball teams for his children prior to moving to Florida. Upon retirement, Dan moved to Barefoot Bay, Fl. in 1998. He enjoyed being a part of several softball teams achieving three consecutive league MVP awards while gaining the reputation of being the leagues “heavy hitter” with raw power. Dan was also a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, enjoyed traveling and his leisure time with his dogs.

Dan is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maureen Cooper Fitzpatrick; three children, Colleen (Daniel) Reed of OH; Daniel S. Fitzpatrick of MD; and William (Jean) Fitzpatrick of New Jersey. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Keane, Quinn, Liam, Peyton, Kaylee and Deven and two brothers, Christopher (Connie) Fitzpatrick of Hamburg, NJ and Terrence (Julie) Fitzpatrick of Wyckoff, New Jersey.

A celebration of life will take place in New Jersey at a later date.
