Obituary for Augustine D Whelan

Augustine (Auggie) Whelan, 75 of Roseland, Florida passed away on October 23, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. Prior to his retirement to Florida in 1999 he was a 911 communications operator for the City of Sea Isle Police Department. He was an Army veteran serving from 1962 to 1965 stationed in Mainz, Germany and also operated a service station in Sea Isle.

He was predeceased by his parents, Augustine and Elizabeth Whelan; granddaughter, Shana Renee Whelan; and brother, James A. Whelan. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Rosemarie Whelan; children, Daniel Whelan and Rose Whelan Silipena; four precious grandchildren, Alyssa Whelan, Jason Silipena, Arianna Silipena and Autumn Turner; one brother, Patrick Whelan; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and celebrate Auggie’s life by gathering for a Viewing at Seawinds Funeral Home, 735 S. Fleming Street, Sebastian, FL 32958 on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 13075 U.S. Hwy 1, Sebastian, FL 32958. Burial will follow at Sebastian Municipal Cemetery, 1921 N. Central Ave, Sebastian, FL 32958 with full military honors.
