Obituary for Sharon Kievit-Sewell

Sharon Kievit Sewell passed away on October 30th, 2017 at the age of 53. She was the youngest of four children, born to Daniel and Carol Kievit.

Sharon was an innovator and began raising her own money with lemonade and “Kool Pop” stands at the age of eight. After graduating high school she worked for a District Attorney’s office in Pompano Beach. Sharon attended two different trade schools and was a member of Local 1010 in Orlando and worked as a foreman. After marriage she moved to North Carolina where she started her own animal grooming and boarding business, “Animal House”. Her passion for animals led to her starting a nonprofit organization with the mission to educate parents and children about “exotics” before buying one as a pet. She rescued over 200 animals and advocated that exotics were best left in the wild unless you were a serious responsible pet owner with a lifelong commitment to the animal. She was a member of Chamber of Commerce, Better Business Bureau and attended fairs and was active in the community advocating for animals. She recently relocated back to Florida and was in the process of beginning working/volunteering with H.A.L.O. with their mission in the community. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was passionate about life.

Sharon is predeceased by her husband, Joseph Norris, and her former husband Jeffrey Sewell. She is survived by her son, James Sewell of Sebastian, FL; daughter, Danielle Sewell, of Franklin, NC; three grandchildren, Madelyn, Caleb, and Aaliyah Lynn; sister, Susan Wolz , of Toledo, OH; and brother, David Kievit, of Wabasso, FL.

A celebration of life was held for immediate family on Monday, November 13, 2017. A public celebration for family and friends will be announced at a future date.
