Robert F  Ahearn
Ahearn, Robert F. of Sebastian, Florida (formerly of Boston, Ma.), age 80 passed away November 23 after a valiant fight against cancer surrounded by his adoring wife and family. Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 34 years, Ashley Brown Ahearn, his five children, Robert J. of Easton, John E. and his wife Susan of Gibsonia, PA, Catherine T. Hardy and her husband Paul of Roslindale, Laureen M. Flahive and her husband Michael of Foxboro and Michael P of Boston. Son of the late of Edmund and Margaret F. McCarthy) Ahearn, also survived by his loving brothers Joseph L. of Quincy and Paul D of Boston, predeceased by his brother Edmund V. and sister M. Judith. Papa Birdie to his seven grandchildren who loved him very much and his cherished fur baby, Molly.

Robert was a Navy war veteran of the Korean War Era and served in the Coast Guard Reserve. He was retired from the Boston Police Department where he served for 34 years. Robert was part of the Tactical Patrol Force and a detective in Homicide and domestic violence divisions. Robert loved spending time at Marina Bay where he was a boat captain and nicknamed, the Mayor of H dock. He loved a great game of cribbage, enjoyed eleven years as a snow bird before moving to Sebastian in 2011.

Robert will be laid to rest at Bourne National Cemetery in Massachusetts. Calling of friends and family will be held at Gormley Funeral Home in West Roxbury, Massachusetts at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the HALO Rescue, 710 Jackson Street, Sebastian, FL 32958.
