Elmer Alex  Kara
The life of Al Kara was born in Woodbridge, NJ and passed away at Palm Bay Hospital in Palm Bay, FL. Al was one of 5 siblings and is survived by two sisters. He was the father of 6 children- Cherelyn Owen, Kendra Punderson, Daniel Kara, Joseph Kara, Ellen Lewis and Liat Picard. He is the grandfather of 9 grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Penno) Kata of Barefoot Bay, FL. Al retired from the U.S. Air Force, serving in World War II, Korean War and two tours in Vietnam retiring as Senior Master Sergeant. Al loved serving his country and was privileged to take part in the Honor Flight Program in 2013. After his retirement he continued his community service as a Fire Chief in Crescent Lake, CT and Lieutenant at Shaker Pines, CT. Al and Pat frequently performed for various local productions in Cameo Club of Connecticut. They also performed for many local organizations. Al was a member of the Masonic Lodge, VFW and Sergeant’s Association in Connecticut; the Yacht Club at Patrick Air Force Base; the Italian Club, Irish Club, Organ and Keyboard Club, Monday Shuffle Board Club and Barefoot Bay Little Theater in Barefoot Bay, FL. Al was a member at United Church of Sebastian, U.C.C. and sang in the choir. Throughout his life he loved being near the water, and was accomplished in sail boating and fishing in Connecticut and in Florida. Al will be remembered by family and friends as being a good man who would be quick to help others when he could, share a story and a laugh with strangers who soon became friends and respectful of the world around him. He will be missed by so many of his friends in Connecticut and especially in Barefoot Bay where he made his home during the winters for the past 26 years.
