Barbara Joyce Stubbe aged 77 died peacefully in her home on Wednesday December 28, 2016.
Barbara was born on February 5, 1939 in Rosedale, N.Y., the daughter of Charles I. Duke and Adele L. Muller Duke. She attended Central High School and was a graduate of Hofstra University. Barbara married Richard J. Stubbe on June 9, 1962 and lived in Wading River on Long Island N.Y. Barbara was an elementary school teacher, a mediator, a notary republic and worked in real estate. In later years Barbara and Richard retired and moved to Pisgah Forest, N.C. She loved her life in the mountains and she was very involved in her community. Barbara volunteered for the Democratic Party, served on the Land of Sky Regional Council on Aging, served on the Transylvania County Senior Citizens Council, and volunteered at Sharing House in Brevard. In October, 2015 Barbara and Richard moved to Florida to move in with their daughter due to Barbara's terminal illness.
Barbara led a very full life between traveling the world with her husband and spending time with her family. She was a very caring, generous and loving person with a great spunky personality.
She is survived by her husband Richard J. Stubbe of Sebastian, Florida; her daughter Pamela Carlson of Sebastian, Florida; her son Douglas Stubbe and his wife Lynn Stubbe of Brookfield Connecticut and her 5 grandchildren, Adrien Carlson, Aleia Carlson, Lorelei Carlson of Sebastian, Florida; Shannon Stubbe and Lyla Stubbe of Brookfield, Connecticut.
Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the family on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 2:00PM-4:00PM at 281 Lake Serenity Drive, Pisgah Forest, N.C. 28768.
